Trailblazers Dance Floor Etiquette
We want Trailblazers LDC to feel friendly, relaxed and enjoyable for everyone, so please keep this dance floor etiquette in mind.
Sharing the dance floor
Line dancers dance in the middle, partner dancers move anti-clockwise around the outside and have priority, and other dance styles can use the back of the floor if space allows.
Partner dance space
If a line dance is especially popular and filling the floor, it is usually best to wait until there is a little more space before starting partner dancing.
Joining in
When stepping onto the dance floor, it helps to move as far forward as you can so others have room to join behind you.
Straight lines
Standing in line with the dancers beside you helps everyone make the best use of the floor.
Moving around the floor
If a dance is in progress, please go around the edge of the floor rather than through the lines.
Food and drinks
To help keep everyone safe, food and drinks should be kept off the dance floor. If there is a spillage, please clean it up or notify the organiser.
Chatting and teaching
When the music is playing, it is best to keep the floor for dancing and move off to chat or help with steps.
Space and safety
If the floor is busy, smaller steps and good awareness helps everyone dance more comfortably and safely.
Beginners and confidence
A little patience, kindness and encouragement can make a big difference, especially for beginners and less confident dancers.
Floor splits
Starting a different dance works best only when there is clearly enough room and it feels appropriate to do so.
Courtesy
A quick apology after a bump, politeness to the DJ and appreciation for live acts all help create a lovely atmosphere.
Enjoyment
Keep smiling and be considerate to help us keep Trailblazers welcoming for everyone.
